Coastal redwoods and the ocean...

What better way to say farewell to hot summer days and welcome fall than to head down to a beautiful redwood grove in Felton for a few days?

Felton is located near Santa Cruz, so our members found plenty of things to do. Our rally leaders put on a welcome lasagna dinner to get things started.

Some of us rode the nearby Roaring Camp and Big Trees steam railroad. Others made the jaunt down to Moss Landing to take a pontoon boat ride around Elkhorn Slough with abundant marine life everywhere. Others enjoyed hiking in Henry Cowell Redwood State Park or at Natural Bridges State Park. And of course, Santa Cruz called to others with its famed boardwalk, seafood restaurants and shopping.

We all enjoyed a farewell "banquet" at the nearby Empire Grille in town.

Maybe the best part of this rally is how short a drive it is from Rossmoor. This will probably be our club's last rally for 2021, but plans are in the works for more great outings in the new year.
